Mission Statement

Merge/Diverge is the work of a diverse international group of MA Ceramic graduates from Cardiff School of Art and Design who have formed a cooperative based in Cardiff, Wales. The forces which have driven us to stay together are some of the themes addressed in our work, the commonalities in the way in which we approach our work and our perspective on ceramics within the wider context of art and design.

Some of the common themes the members have identified with their work are; identity, perception and transformation. The approaches’ we share are seen in our understanding of how material research brings knowledge.

The members demonstrate in their exhibited work a broad and diverse approach to the medium, demonstrating the capacity of ceramics to express concepts in an individual and creatively innovative way, unified by a material understanding.
